Dr. Deanna Louie graduated from the University of California with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology with an Immunology Emphasis and Computer Science. She then completed her medical education at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Louie is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, as well as a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Louie has a broad range of expertise, which helps her give each patient the best care possible. She has a special interest in small incision cataract surgery, as well as the medical treatment of various retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. She is also experienced in oculoplastic procedures such as blepharoplasty, which is the treatment of drooping eyelids due to excess skin and fat. She also specializes in laser vision correction.
Dr. Louie is a black belt in taekwondo and has an impressive competition record. She is a 4-time National Collegiate Championship Gold Medal Team Member and 2-time Korean American Olympic Championship sparring gold medalist. She has also enjoyed 13 years of formal classical piano training. In her free time, Dr. Louie enjoys the outdoors and traveling with her family.

Dr. Louie and Dr. Petrovich have been incredible throughout my journey with some very challenging medical conditions affecting my vision. Since my symptoms and lab results haven't pointed to a clear diagnosis, finding answers has been a difficult process, and I've been referred from one physician to another. Through it all, the care, compassion, and professionalism I've received at Eye Associates of North Florida have been nothing short of exceptional. They have taken the time to listen, thoroughly evaluate my condition, and genuinely care about finding the best path forward. Dr. Louie is the best. She not only fixed my cataracts and gave me back visual acuity I hadn’t had since third grade OK, so third grade was a little while ago —65 years to be precise) but another ophthalmologist in town told me that if he ever needs cataract surgery, she is his first choice. You don’t get better recommendations than that.

This visit as well as prior visits have been fantastic. The wait is on the long side but it is worth the wait. The staff if wonderful and very friendly and know what they are doing. I recommend this business. Dr Louie is an expert in her field and very nice.

Didn’t have to wait long and Dr. Louie was very pleasant. She knew what she was doing and was prepared as was her staff.
Dr. Louie was very knowledgeable and extremely gentle with my 9 month old son. He can be very active and determined, so he is not the easiest patient. Dr, Louie allowed his little eyes to fully dialate with several rounds of drops before viewing. When it was time to examine his retinas, she patiently adjusted her position each time he adjusted his. The best part was so did her assistant, who was attempting to keep my son's eyes open and his gaze on an episode of Cocomelon that she had playing on a phone she was holding over Dr. Louie's shoulder the entire time. Their excellent team work allowed us to get the answers we needed. CON - The front of house waiting area is run like Labcorp or the DMV with multiple intake personnel working at stations that you cannot access until you are called. There is also an information desk with a task manager attempting to keep everyone organized and on schedul. You have to use the electronic kiosks to sign in before having a seat in a crowded waiting area. This was off putting for me. As I said, I have a 9 month child. I try not to expose his immune system to a lot of people. Once seated, you wait for the last four digits of your phone number to be called and the number station you are being summoned to before approaching reception to provide your contact and insurance information. After signing a series of releases, you are sent back to the first waiting area to be called by the back of house staff. There is another, smaller waiting room back there.

I had the best experience with Dr.Louie. I like that she was comforting during my minor procedure. I will definitely recommend Eye Associates for all your eye problems. Such a great group of doctors!!!!
Dr. Louie and her staff were incredibly kind and thorough. They took their time explaining the surgery and my different options, and I never once felt rushed. The level of care was very positive and genuine.

Good amount of quality time spent with the pre-doctor part....Eye reviews and checking with necessary eye drops administered etc. Dr. Louie was punctual and efficient. She answers all my questions, and upon leaving, I felt I understood my eyes' health.

We asked one of the secretaries why the delay for my husband’s appointment, we have been waiting for an hour. Her answer was: we have six Drs. and they each see 35 patients a day and we do not have enough rooms. We are just busy and there is nothing I can do. So my husband and I decided to leave. We went to the secretary and told her we cannot wait any longer. We would like another appointment. She said it will be next April!!! Unbelievable!!! If it was not serious it would be a joke. We are on our way home.We like Dr. Louie but are upset about the clinic employees lack of care and consideration, and the long wait.
