Dr Strickland is an outstanding eye doctor; she takes the time to listen, and provides very clear and easy to understand medical advise.
Pros:Ive been a patient here for a long time. Usually a great visit, but this time was a bit different. Reception upon arrival; great. Amber; initial tech, great. Dr. Weaver; excellent! He was informative and showed care and concern regarding eye health changes since my previous annual exam last year.Cons:There were x2 staff that left me feeling like they were more interested in getting through there patient load for the day, than to understand my exam FEAR. The next level up tech that wanted to check my eye pressure, said he understood. But his change in tone did not. Even when I first tried to explain my refusal at that time meant nothing against him. Then, Dr. Weavers assistant with initial K was of similarity. She needed to check my eyes with a different tool. She didnt tell me. She just walked up to me with a tool that was pointy. I saidwhat are you going to do with that? She responded check your eye pressure. I immediately had even more fear!!! I asked her: did you sanitize your hands? I didnt believe her because she did not do it in the exam room. Also she wasnt wearing gloves. Actually no one did. Hands are dirty and they touch everything! Then I told her youre not going to explain to me what you are doing? She said she was just going to sneak and do it. I said nope. Not to this patient. Now I told her I needed more time to calm down before she could do anything to my eyes!!!! She waited momentarily as though she was very annoyed.Staff should not make a patient feel less taken care of by showing a dislike related to patients exam FEAR. We all have things that cause fear. A patient just needs a little help to get through the reason they are there.Overall:Staff should be kind, assist the patient and help them. It only takes a few seconds extra and well worth it. As a healthcare provider myself and training other healthcare workers. I always stress how important it is to REMEMBER that on the other end of what is being done to that patient; is a human being!!! Be kind. Be supportive. Do what is best for the patient not oneself. Be supportive as the patients advocate.
Every doctor and other professional over there takes their time and helps you with your eyes!
I have been going here for many years, & I especially recommend Dr. Buie & Dr. Trafton. The practice is also extremely efficient.
